Fuel Consumption

The GP7200 is the most fuel efficient engine on the A380.

In 2010, Airbus revised its performance handbook, or "Orange Book" for the Engine Alliance GP7200-powered A380, noting that the aircraft’s specific fuel consumption (SFC) is .5% less than originally predicted.

In fact, the Engine Alliance GP7200 beats its SFC specification by 1.4%.

This number may seem small, but it represents a savings of more than 244,000 US gallons of fuel per aircraft, per year, on flights from Paris to New York.

At a jet fuel price of $3.00 per US gallon, that means an annual savings of more than $700,000 USD per aircraft.

The savings jump to more than $1M USD per year, per aircraft, when used for longer flights, like Dubai to Sydney.

The longer the flight, the greater the savings.

Better fuel efficiency means fewer greenhouse gas emissions, too.

The GP7200: Good for the planet, great for your budget.
